Covid may have closed the doors on our live music venues, but the show must go on…
GITH has joined forces with Keith Anthony and Zeppi’s Pub to put together a brand new weekly performance series airing on YouTube next week.
Hopefully, you have now heard the single ‘Sing Out Yourself’ by Andrea Britton and Keith Anthony, written to raise funds for this new venture, Backdoor Jam. If not – download the song here.
The idea of Backdoor Jam is to offer a home-grown, authentic online entertainment series for Malta and transfer the unmistakable and sorely missed energy and vibes that Zeppis pub in Qala has long-time created to a new online space. The usual buzzing artistic scene we have on Gozo needs a new home, for now, and so the series will showcase and promote local talent worldwide as well as featuring some talented musical friends from around the globe.

Committed to ending this crazy year on a high note
The effects of the pandemic have been extreme and the arts have suffered both from a performer’s and audience’s point of view. Performers are earning much less than usual – if anything at all – and missing the sanity playing live offers them. We are hoping to give Zeppi’s a new online chapter and build something Gozo and Malta can be proud of in the future.
The show will feature bands, soloists, classics, poetry, literature and promote grass-roots talent directly from the island. It kicks off with a Christmas Special on 21st December at 8pm (CET) – that’s 7pm for our UK readers, with performances from Divine Sinners, Ben Denny Mo and Rubberband. Also, Andrea & Keith perform their Christmas single, ‘Sing Out Yourself’.
