The Aġenzija Żgħażagħ Youth Service introduces an innovative project aimed at encouraging young people to develop their learning and creativity throughout the pandemic.
Aġenzija Żgħażagħ (Gozo Youth Service) provides numerous spaces for young people to learn in new ways, develop their talents, and participate as active citizens through its regional youth services, empowerment programmes and funding schemes. Due to the ongoing situation of the Covid-19, they have shifted many of their services online. One of the directives issued by the health authorities was to stay home as much as possible and to avoid contact with other people so as to reduce risks. And so, ‘Youth of Gozo’ was born.
The aim of this project is to turn the spotlight on young Gozitans as they adjust to the restrictions of everyday life posed by the pandemic. Portraying life under partial lockdown and how young people in Gozo are adapting, using their talents, leading by example and staying safe at home.
This is an ideal time for young people to continue developing skills at home, and ‘Youth of Gozo’ is providing them with an online platform where they can share their talent with others. We love that the project is also presenting young Gozitan professionals, for whom this period has also necessitated a different way of working.
Check out their facebook page to see the range of skills
You can find the daily posts on the project on the Aġenzija Żgħażagh Facebook page showing young people practising their talents or speaking about passions. It’s amazing to see the range of skills shared such as singing, playing a music instrument, artistic work, scientific experiments, music production, cooking, sports and creative writing.
‘Youth of Gozo’ is an inclusive forum; both for established young artists as well as those young people who have never displayed their work publicly. It also showcases other young people who are unable to work from home since their skills are of primary importance to the community during this period.
