The Ghajnsielem Local Council in collaboration with the Ministry for Gozo plus wonderful volunteers have created this magnificent 19M Christmas tree with 4540 recycled glass bottles.
unique Christmas tree dedicated to the heroes and victims of covid-19.
Over many months people from all Gozo localities (and Malta too) have been dropping off their empty bottles to create this magnificent tree which came to life last night on Ghajnsielem’s Locality Day. It’s absolutely stunning. As well as looking beautiful, the tree signifies important environmental messages to encourage more recycling and reuse on Gozo. Something very close to GITHs heart.
With a condensed events calendar and no Bethlehem this year, the local council in Ghajnsielem decided to focus more on decorations and as well as the inspirational green message have dedicated this one-of-a-kind Christmas tree to the heroes and victims of Covid-19. The tree was officially inaugurated by Gozo Minister, Clint Camilleri, together with Mayor Kevin Cauchi and their local councillors. It was quite the spectacular with music and fireworks being fired off from the tree itself.
